4. Images. You may be tempted to use large images on
you web page (such as photoes of your School). It is best to keep in
mind that large images can take upto 10 minutes to load if the user is
using a dial up connection.
Large images also take up a lot of disk space.
Images should also have the "alt" text set. This means that if someones visits your site and a picture is no longer available, they will know what was supposed to be there.
5. Colours. Try using colours that are neutral and easy on the eye, bright clashing colours should be avoided.
6. Content. Make sure that your main page tells visitors what your site is about and has something to grab their attention. Otherwise they may leave. Also make sure that the rest of the site contains relevent information and the visitor is not mis-leaded in any way.
7. Links. Make sure all the links on your webpage work. A web site where links do not work is a great way to deter browsers.
