Hints and Tips

Welcome to the Hints and Tips page. Here we hope you will be able to make use of some of our experience and knowledge to create an eye-catching and functional website.

1. Web-Page Layout. A web-page that is just plain text and involves a great deal of page-scrolling will often deter the casual browser.
Make sure all the text on your site is easy to read. Avoid "busy" background images that draw the attention of the visitor away from the text.
Also, try and make sure that one web page fits on the screen - no more than four clicks of the scrollbar to get to the bottom of the page.

2. Consistency. Keep your site consistent throughout. Don't have a different background color on every page, or a different navigation scheme. Try to have at least one small icon on every page on your site, somewhere at the top preferably, so that people will know they are still at your site.

3. Animated Gifs. You may be tempted to fill your site with animated images. If you really want to use them, then only use one or two per page. You should also stay clear of gifs that involve rapid flashing or play more than once.
